ABOUT ME

Film composer Patrick A. Thompson lives in Dallas, Texas.  He composed his first work on piano at around eight years old.  He performed an excerpt from Beethoven's 9th Symphony on the Queen Mother's Grand piano in Glamis Castle in Scotland at an equally young age.  Music has been a driving force in his life ever since his father would sing to him before bedtime.

After studying music composition and musical theater at the University of North Texas, and earning a Master Certificate for Orchestration for TV\Film from Berklee College of Music, Patrick's music has been heard on NBC, FOX, ABC Family,  VH1, National Grographic, Comedy Central, Animal Planet, History Channel, FOX Sports, PBS, E!, Bravo, Syfy, Lifetime, Oxygen, AMC, Space, TruTV, Ion, TLC, The Biography Channel, OWN, The Military Channel, CMT, MTV Canada, and Fuse as well as a number of award-winning films.

For several years, Patrick performed and helped produce musical theater productions for several theme parks around the United States.  As his passion for live theater grew, so did his talent for storytelling.  This is what sets him apart from most composers.  In any scoring venture, Patrick seeks to actively and emotionally engage the audience under the Director's guidance.  Film music is never supposed to be a passive force, but rather a subliminal voice which continually deepens and supports the Director's emotional vision.
